What do you do at QMV and in what circumstances would I come to you for something?

Principal Consultant at QMV you can come to me with anything from a business problem or an opportunity, an insurance consulting question or even just for a chat. My door (and now video conferencing door) is always open.

What’s one professional skill you’re currently working on/or have completed?

There’s always work to be done. Like everyone, I’m always striving to be a better version of myself. I am studying NeuroLeadership, and while it’s really helping me understand how I can be a better leader, I am conscious of all the pressure we put on ourselves, especially under the current circumstances. We’re all human and while I strive to continually improve, I’m not aiming for perfection. I would say I’m currently focused on finding the right balance between delivering to clients, being present with my team, ensuring I’m looking for opportunities for people to develop, studying and also making sure I have enough in the tank for the people in my life & myself…. It’s a fine line.

Who or What has influenced you most when it comes to how you approach your work?

I’ve been really fortunate to have had many positive influences from my parents, friends, work colleagues and mentors.

I have 3 stand outs:

1. my parents who came to Australia and as most immigrants, sacrificed a lot to give their family the opportunities they didn’t have.

2. one of my best friends who lost her battle with lymphoma, but lived every day to the fullest. She has inspired me to live life as fully as I can.

3. one stand out leader I had earlier in my career. He was able to connect with everyone at all levels in the organisation and made me feel that my position was an important cog in the wider organisation.

What behaviour or personality trait is most important to you, and why?

Passion & Drive - I am passionate about people and connection; and I am very driven to find the best outcome or solution to a problem.

I lead a team of fantastic consultants with a diverse set of skills and experience. They surprise me all the time with the way they deliver to clients and adapt to unique scenarios and requests from our clients. It’s really important to me to be able to highlight their strengths and shine a light on what they can do, even if they don’t think they can, but equally important to find ways they can develop and grow.

What’s one thing that surprised you about working at QMV?

The dedication, comradery and the tight knit culture of QMV consultants, their incredible work ethic to drive solutions for the superannuation and insurance industry. They definitely punch above their weight and set the bar very high.
